Meet the 2011 W.E.B. Du Bois Scholars

The 2011 W.E.B. Du Bois Scholars reflect a diverse range of high-achieving African-American students from throughout the metro Atlanta region and the state.  Metro Atlanta leaders rolled out the red carpet and dispensed celebrity treatment for six African-American high school students during Scholars Recognition Week June 6 – 10, 2011. The weeklong celebration is the pinnacle of the W.E.B. Du Bois Scholars Program, an initiative started by the W.E.B. Du Bois Society to create more fanfare and public recognition around academic excellence among black students.
 
To kick off Recognition Week, the Du Bois Scholars met with Atlanta City Council members and Mayor Reed and received personal proclamations in honor of their achievements:
