Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed gets “Up Close & Personal” at Du Bois Society Annual Luncheon

Posted on May 13, 2010

Hundreds of Atlanta leaders and professionals will gathered for a rare, “up close and personal” conversation with Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed. The conversation was the highlight of the W.E.B. Du Bois Society’s “The Art of It” luncheon, which engaged local and national African-American leaders every year for firsthand conversations with Atlanta audiences.

Valerie Jackson, NPR’s host of “Between the Lines” and widow of Atlanta’s first African-American mayor Maynard Holbrook Jackson, facilitated the discussion with Mayor Reed, followed by an open forum Q&A between Reed and luncheon attendees. The discussion focused on “the man behind the mayor’s office,” as well as Mayor Reed’s vision for the city of Atlanta, education and African-American youth.
