Compared to whites, significant gaps for African-American students are evident in virtually every measure of achievement - math and reading test scores, high school completion rates, college enrollment and college completion rates. If today's African-American children continue to fall behind their peers in school, their chances of achieving full participation in the life of this nation will be severely diminished.
